Ship Facts: Carnival Conquest Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Carnival Conquest Deck Plans
Least favorite cruise...... disappointing!

Our family has taken four cruises.... this particular cruise kind of soured us on Carnival. The embarkation went fairly well until my brother-in-law was hassled about his metal detectors. The website clearly states that metal detectors are allowed but he had to surrender the metal detector and then retrieve it from security once the ship left port. After numerous attempts..... finally the metal detector was back in his possession. Really was not necessary for all this hassle.

We booked Ocean Views rooms on floor #2. This was our room of choice.... but after a night of NO SLEEP due to crashing sounds coming thru the walls and ceiling we complained to the guest services. **note... when you have a problem and time day or night.... call guest services so they can come document the problem. After getting the run around... and finally getting a supervisor to help we were moved to the 8th floor Balcony Rooms. These rooms were acceptable and no noise.... so finally some sleep. Some problems with the room keys after the move... but we dealt with it.

The hallways on the 2nd floor smelled of urine.... the move to the 8th floor wasn't much better as the hall ways smelled moldy/musty and clearly had water stains the entire length. We saw three occasions where the staff was using water vacuums on the floors. One of our showers plugged up and over flowed... they did come fix that problem.

The room staff was very good and friendly. Most of the other staff was not. The Cruise Director was forgettable at best.... and his assistant was about as boring as they come.

The comedy club was ok. Same show couple nights with same comedian as they said the "other guy" missed his flight. Makes ya wonder on that one.

Entertainment shows were pathetic. Repeats!! So, if you saw the show the first night.... guess what??? You didn't need to go back.

Overall, we were very bored while on the ship. Activities were minimal. The past three cruised we were on... we had activities overlapping and had to make choices on what we wanted to do or not do.

Food was not the best on the buffets. Couple things were pretty good but overall not appealing. The burger bar and taco bar were good.

The ports were OK. Belize was AWFUL. We did not feel safe and the place was filthy dirty!!! Cozumel, Mexico was OK. Roatan, Honduras was really nice.... I wouldn't have minded staying there longer.

So, overall we were very disappointed and this cruise has swayed us to try another cruise line. We may be back to Carnival... we may not.
