Great Cruise

Sail Date: January 2014
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

We sailed January 26, 2014 for a 2 week Eastern/Western cruise on NA. Embarkation was easy as we had taken an early shuttle from our hotel. Rooms were ready by 12:30. Our room was 4020, amazing cabin crew, friendly and efficient.

Ports:

Half Moon Cay-beautiful, beautiful island. We were the only ship there, velvet white sand, clear water, lots of beach loungers, bars, and pirate ship entertainment.

Georgetown, Cayman Islands-walked off the boat and picked up an excursion-was a good overview of the island, then back for shopping.

Cozumel-did an excursion with the ship, great overview made by the guide who was of Mayan descent and very proud of his heritage. Visited Discover Mexico, very small Mayan ruins, beach, Tequilla factory, and then only disappointment was ending at DI.

Key West-booked hop on hop off trolley through ship, picked us up at the Navy Pier and returned us. Great way to see Key West, gave us discount coupons for various More attractions eg. Butterfly Conservatory.

Grand Turk- just walked around shops and enjoyed beach.

San Juan-picked up a $10 tour, and did tour for over an hour. Dropped us off in shopping/restaurant area and we sauntered back to ship.

St. Thomas-was not a downtown pier, but taxis available. Picked up a tour from Patrick that was to be 2 hours and ended up being over 3 and a half hours. Great tour guide, went all over the island. Highlight of cruise as far as tours.

Half Moon Cay -back to swim with the Sting rays. Great time, laid around beach enjoyed barbeque, this time another HAL ship there. Beach loungers at a premium by lunch time so go to the island by 10:30 am.

Great food, though sometimes a little salty in the MDR and Lido. Happy Hour from 4-5 in Crow's Nest and Ocean bar and 10-11 in Northern Lights, buy on get one for $1 was a fun deal. We bought 2 drinks, and 2 beers, didn't have beer opened and brought back to the room fridge for next day.

Loved Cantare, Recycled Percussion, Julie Barr, Mike Robinson, Greg in Piano Bar, and violin/piano duo. Garage Band by HAL singers and dancers was excellent.

Just a relaxing, enjoyable cruise away from the cold winter of Ontario!! Less

Cabin review: Nieuw Amsterdam 4020

The balcony was huge, really enjoyed the space. If you want the clear outside wall, then not the balcony for you, I like to sit out early in the am, read and enjoy my coffee, so was fine for me. The room was very clean and cabin staff was great. Iced beer each day, twice a day, and kept room immaculate.
