A HUGE food disappointment!

Sail Date: February 2014
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Miami

This is our 8th Cruise and not all with the same cruise line. We like to try different ones. This was our second time on a Carnival Cruise.

We do we expect perfection but this has to be one of the worst cruises for food we've ever had. The buffet was always specialty type cuisine i.e. Caribbean fare or something of that nature. No comfort food like fried chicken and mashed potatoes. Only three of the four pool eateries were open and they were all the same...guy's burgers, pizza or burritos every day. On our sea days it was awfully hard to get even close to them as the lines were so long.

We were seated at a table for ten in the dining room. Six was the most to ever show up and one evening we were all alone at that huge table. It was very uncomfortable. In the dining room the food was NEVER hot, even when we sent it back. Two of us at our table ordered rib eye's both the same way, medium well and what we got were two different steaks. One for sure was a rib eye and More the other looked like a skirt steak. And both were luke warm. We also thought all of the food lacked seasoning. Even the desserts lacked flavor. I had carrot cake one night and it was tasteless. I was very surprised.

The ports were great as was the beach time snorkeling. Our cabin was always clean. The ship could probably use some refreshing of the decor but it was clean!

I'm not sure we'll be back to Carnival for a while even though they seem to be the lowest price. Less

Port and Shore Excursions

Air Boat Tour

The board ride portion was fun! A lot of birds on this excursion but it's hard to identify them as the boat is gliding so quickly.

The Discover was not at all what we expected. I should have paid closer attention. All of the ruins were mini to scale. They were placed in a walk able garden. We thought we'd be on a city tour. The tour guide did know a lot about each ruin and went into detail about many of them. The Taste portion was three taco's and a beverage. All were very good.

Seven Mile Beach was a $5 each way cab/bus ride. Worth it! Beach was clear and not very crowded. We rented 2 chairs and an umbrella for $20. Relaxing on the beach was GREAT! We even did some snorkeling.
