SUN FUN NEW FRIENDS NO SNOW

Sail Date: February 2014
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Miami

It was great to get away from cold, snowy Buffalo and into the hot, sunny Caribbean. We got on the ship early...even before the Embarkation Photographers were set up so we had to take a Lido deck embarkation photo instead. We were on the ship with drinks in our hand before noon...no lines to wait in. My husband, daughter and son-in-law sailed off to the Caribbean for a week. We never had to make a bed, do dishes, worry about laundry, or shovel snow!

Our rooms were made up in a timely fashion in the a.m. and beds were turned down with a welcoming towel animal every night. We asked for an ice bucket and it was filled every day and night too.

I organized a Meet & Greet on the ship Carnival called it a Private Cocktail Party.. Geraldine was very helpful assisting with the arrangements. There were 24 of us from all parts of the USA & Canada who were complete strangers until CC roll call brought us together and we met on the ship. Now friends for a lifefime...from More California, Michigan, Kansas, Missouri, Boston, Albany, Prince Edward Island, Texas, Long Isalnd.

Every day was hot, sunny, enjoyable. Even the two times it rained (in PR and GT) it didn't last long and felt good.

However you spend it, make the most of it. It is a cruise...enjoy the sunrises and sunsets and escape reality for a little while.

OVERALL TWO THUMBS UP EXPERIENCE!! Less

Cabin review: Carnival Liberty Balcony Verandah 8331

Clean , spacious, lots of drawer space and shelves to put items, even cabinets on either side of the bed and under the couch.

Port and Shore Excursions

FlowRider

GRAND TURK, home of the world's largest Margaritaville and the island where John Glenns space capsule touched down back in 1962 after his visit to the moon. My kids did the FLOWRIDER experience...with video and pics to purchase. Be sure to book before you cruise or while on the ship if you wait until you get on the isalnd you might not be able to do it.. Cruisers get first dibs and a min of 5 ppl are needed to do it. The drinks, food and entertainment at Margaritaville was wonderful! The sand had stones in it. To enter the water you should consider wearing watershoes...at first it feels like quicksand and then you have big rocks covered with moss to contend with. So the swimming was not ideal, but refreshing. Maybe further down the beach it wouldve been different. If we go again...we will swim in the Margaritaville pool. We stayed near the ship. The Flowrider experience is for the adventurous. Watching everyone try to surf the waves was entertaining.

Took a tender to the island... short ride and we were on the private island. A little shopping area...and signs to lead you to the beach. Crystal clear water...soft sand beneath your feet. Pleasant Carnival employees..delicious buffet. Enough time to spend and relax before getting back onboard.

Old San Juan is full of history. Souvenir shops and outdoor artisan market gave us plenty of opportunity to bring some of the town home with us. Barachina restaurant fills up fast there was a wait for the tables and places at the bar. It is the home of the Pina Colada so get there early. The town is walking distance as is the fort

Coral World Tour

Havensight had the shopping we needed before going on our excursion. Keep your watches to ships time. There is an hour difference. Coral World was a great experience. we went 20ft below the surface and saw all kinds of beautiful fish .We were able to purchase the video and pics for a reasonable $30. Iguanas were walking around the area. There was time to shop some more before boarding the ship. Watching them drive on the other side of the street was interesting. We didnt get to downtown or the skyride due to the excursion though. Senor Frogs is walking distance from the ship.
