Traveled with children

To begin....We are well traveled cruise people. Usually we go on the rather upscale small ships. This time we decided to take our grandchildren, Boy aged 9 and girl aged 7, on the Disney Dream. Quite honestly I was expecting to regret the decision. To our surprise it was a fantastic experience. During to planning of this trip practically everyone's advice was to expect it to be great. We were not disappointed . We got two staterooms (adjoining). One for the kids one for us. The price differential was not much compared to a family suite. I highly recommend this choice. We opted for portholes rather than a balcony. Also a good decision. Probably would not even have used it. Now for the review;

The main swimming areas were wonderful for the kids. Do not expect to find any faults. It is what it is. Lots and lots of people but that is what is expected. Kids had a great time. It was like bring a beach chair to Grand Central Station if you want to watch the kids.Rather long waits for the slide and the aqua-tube. I cannot see how Disney can attempt to improve it. Adults can always hide out in the 18 and above areas. The only real complaint is that there should be more shaded areas for adults.

Food was excellent and service was superb.I am comparing it to the top cruise lines. I cannot understand how anyone can complain. The children can order from the adult menu. In fact the servers even made special arrangements for the kids wishes. The wanted Caesar Salads every night even when it was not on the menu. One night we went to "Remy's" (with children. The servers took good care of the kids in the dining room without us. I highly DO NOT recommend Remy's!!! If you like French dining this was rather good but definitely NOT worth the cost. They actually overcharged for alcohol cocktails. And did not correct the bill. They though they were excessively fancy. Not better than an average french dining locale in a major city. Save your money and tip the servers well downstairs.
