Embarkation was a breeze being a platinum member for the first time. We were on the ship after an hour wait and seated for lunch in the Concerto dining room just after 12:00. It was a great lunch to start our voyage.
The ship has a beautiful decor throughout. The piazza is fantastic with lots of room to move about with various entertainers throughout the day. Elevators were busy and therefore slow. I can't understand why the designers removed the public midship stairway. What were they thinking? Also we really missed walking around the ship on an outdoor promenade. It was difficult to move from one end of the ship to the other without going through the eating area or exercise room. The sea walk is boring and affects the privacy of the balconies below. We're glad we refused an upgrade to this area of the ship. These staterooms should be identified as lacking privacy and priced accordingly.
The addition of hand washing stations with two sinks was a good idea but the More
area was cramped . When they were occupied people just walked by without washing.
Infection control measures at the Horizon Court were only encouraged during the first five days of the cruise. After five days there was no staff directing you to the hand washing stations or handing out plates and silverware.
Stateroom was smaller than the Ruby with the carpet already showing signs of wear. Upon arrival the carpet in the stateroom was filthy and warranted a call to housekeeping. The balcony is a joke with barely enough room for 2 people to recline comfortably. The chairs cannot face towards the ocean as the balcony is not deep enough. The bathroom is adequate but small. The shampoo and soap dispensers on the wall is a nice touch as well as the handheld shower.
Dining rooms were nice with the usual good food choices.
Ports were OK but it would have been nice to go to Grand Turk on the way back.
Disembarkation was easy but we used ezee check for the bags which was a huge mistake. We checked 3 bags and only 2 arrived at our destination. Still waiting for the bag to show up. Don't use this service if you have a choice.
I think it's time to try another cruise line for a better experience. Less
