We're a couple in our late 40's experiencing our first cruise. We are fans of All-Inclusive resorts worldwide. They have always been our vacation of choice. One of our trepidation's about cruising was a perceived feeling of confinement or crowded conditions.
A friend suggested that we try the Celebrity Summit after his family had a great experience sailing on it last year. We arrived the evening before to ensure no weather problems would hamper our travel plans.
Our immediate reaction to the Summit was a very positive one as we toured all the facilities, pools, Theater, restaurants, lounges and finally our cabin.
We were excited about our itinerary this week. It included St.Croix, St. Kitts, Dominica, Granada and St. Thomas. We elected to take local cabs, find nice beaches, quaint restaurants and shopping areas to explore when the days became scorching hot.
I was appalled at the man outside the ship taking pictures of passengers with baby monkeys. I am not entertained by animal exploitation, and to make matters worse, the monkeys had no fresh water. Animal humaneness should be strictly enforced if Celebrity allows this.
The food was very good and far superior to what you would generally find at most all-inclusive resorts. We loved the Q'sine restaurant and we were very impressed. Fresh, unique concept where you choose your meal from a mobile tablet menu . We also ate a lot at the buffet, when we had a lot scheduled.
We did not go to the Casino as my wife used to work in one in Vegas and we don't enjoy throwing away money.
The entertainment was really good, caught some enjoyable song and dance shows. Loved "Sirens" and "Stars in their eyes". The Musicians, Will Foraker and Justin Wade were very talented. Unfortunately, we missed the comedian as our dinner was delayed that evening. The hypnotist blew us away with his show. Fernandez was hilarious and better than others that we have seen before in Vegas or University shows. We attended a few of his seminars also, very interesting stuff.
The Cruise Director Kyle and his staff did a wonderful job keeping us busy throughout the entire cruise. We really enjoyed the Zumba classes and a much needed nap after that workout. We also enjoyed Dancing with the Stripes one evening. Most days we spent time in the Thalassotherapy pool, Great massage therapy in a pool. Highly recommend it! The Newlywed game is "old & tired" We've seen this at every all inclusive with the exact same questions...Time to retire it.
All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our Cruise on the Summit and will be definitely sailing Celebrity again.
