I thought I would share some thoughts on our Jewel 21-27 W. Caribbean sailing. We had a lovely cruise. DH and I are in our early 40's, we were celebrating our 17th anniversary, just he and I this time. We have previously sailed twice on Mariner and once on Freedom with our teen/tween girls and Grandma. This was our first Radiance Class ship. We've done this itin. several times before, so we were looking to just spend our time enjoying the ship this trip and spent little time in ports.
Embarkation: We left from FLL. It was incredibly fast and smooth. We arrived at the port around 11:30. Within minutes our luggage was picked up by the porters and we headed inside. After first being directed to the very long line of pax waiting to embark, I asked if we should enter somewhere else for a suite (we were traveling in a JS this time). I was directed to the suite line where there was no waiting. We must have hit it just right, because just as we got to the xray machine, they opened up the line for all of those pax whom we were directed past. There was a mass line that formed right behind us.
Ship: The ship was quite lovely. I was impressed with her condition. I know she is not very old anyway, but she struck me as being comparable in shape to the newer ships we've been on. I especially loved the Solarium. I spent a great deal of time reading there. I was on a mission to get through an entire book this cruise, which I accomplished I very much enjoyed the crepes they served there. That was a nice little touch we've not had on other ships. The view out of the glass elevators over the open waters was also unique to the other ships we've been on and quite beautiful.
