Voyager of the Seas Cruise Review by Nerang: Good Cruise but have done better

Good Cruise but have done better
Destination: Australia & New Zealand
Embarkation: Sydney (Australia)
Embarkation was delayed by an hour due to deep cleansing being done because of outbreak of norovirus on previous cruise. Everyone was advised to wash hands thoroughly as well as sanitise before entering dining rooms and public areas. On the hold most people took necessary precautions but it amazed me of the people who did not wash hands after going to the bathroom. The virus seemed to be contained on our cruise with only a few contacting it. Our group of 8 no one caught it.
Embarkation was easy started to board at noon and were on the ship and in the Windjammer having lunch by 12.15. Disembarkation was a breeze as well. The line for a taxi was long but very organised and in a taxi on the way to the airport within 20mins of being off the ship.
The ship is definitely in need of a refit. It is looking a little tired. They did replace the carpet in the hallway outside our cabin and on most other floors during the cruise.
Our cabin attendant Duncan was fantastic. More Nothing was a problem for him.
Our group of 8 had My time Dining and were seated at the same table every night. Our waiters Leonardo and Maria were just great. The food was hit and miss some nights great other nights just so so.
We had dinner twice in Portofino's, the first night 3 of the soups had to be sent back as they were cold and one of the main meals sent back as well as it was very cold the others were just warm. The service that night was lacking. The waiter was very slow.
We thought we would give it another go and this time we were not disappointed. The food was fantastic and the service could not be faulted.
Did the Murder Mystery night. This was a fun night was food good.
The entertainment on a board was good. The ice show is not to be missed and on the last night we had The Aussie boys do a show. This was the highlight of the cruise.
Being on a large ship limited our time in some ports which was disappointing and would have liked more time in Napier and Tauaranga.
But we were so pleased that we were on a big ship when we stuck large seas crossing The Tasman to Hobart.
On a hold we had a good cruise but ship is definitely in need of a refit and food was good but not great. Less
