Ship Facts: Carnival Sunshine Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Carnival Sunshine Deck Plans
A good time was had but it could have been better

Just returned from a one week cruise on the newly revamped Carnival Sunshine.

The good:

Our cabin was excellent. We had a balcony suite on deck 7 and the cabin was very spacious while the balcony itself was only a tad bit larger than a standard balcony. The stateroom design is excellent, lots of storage and available power.

Our cabin stewart was wonderful. He always had our cabin spotless for us.

JiJi - This restaurant was outstanding for both food and service and well worth the $12.00pp upcharge.

Activities - The ship had a great deal of daily activities going on - lot's of different trivia contests and the like.

Fitness center is excellent - lot's of equipment

Blue Iguana - Very tasty breakfast burritos, probably the best breakfast option on the ship.

Spa - had two couples massages and they were both great.

Attended the Epic 80's show and it was very high energy and fun.

The four comics on board were all very funny.

Serenity decks are quite nice but even with the extra space there were "nut cases" saving loungers before 6:00am!!!

Used room service once and everything was delivered when scheduled and the order was correct.

Staff - The staff were all very helpful throughout the cruise.

Could be better:

Dining room - service and food quality here were quite poor. We did not have a truly positive experience on the two dinners and four breakfast/Brunch's we attended on anytime dining. We ended up eating dinner at the steakhouse twice, JiJi twice, Cucina Capitano once for a more consistent and enjoyable dining experience.

Dining choices - in the late afternoon most dining options shutdown and on one day when we returned from our Belize shore excursion the only option other than room service was Guys burgers from 2:30 - 6:00pm, kind of a bummer if you don't want one of those fat ladden belly bombs!

Limelight lounge - where comedy performances are held is a small venue and fills up for every show, also about 20% of the seats are on the side of the stage where you literally can't see the comics and there are video screens there for the folks that are sitting to the sides.
