About us: We decided to do this cruise because of the dates and price rather than the itinerary. We cruised with friends. We are all in our 50's and early 60's. We originally booked veranda cabins because we are of the philosophy that we prefer to cruise more often than more luxuriously. However, 2 days before sailing we were about to upgrade to suites for no additional cost. We were assigned S2 cabins.
Embarkation: We arrived at the port around noon and embarkation was very easy. We were quickly onboard with champagne in hand. We had a small glitch when our keys would not open our cabin doors. Fixing this involved standing in line at guest relations and then having the staff come and retool our door locks. Not a major deal.
Cabin: As this was our first time sailing in a suite, we were a little uncertain what to do with a butler, but April, our butler, quickly put us at ease. He served us breakfast every morning on the veranda with a white tablecloth. The room service breakfast was better than we remember from past cruises. Our suite was a handicap accessible suite. It was certainly nice for us, but in the future, if given the option, we think that we would prefer a regular S2 cabin.
Cabin Review
The room was a handicap accessable suite. We are not handicapped, but were assigned the room due to a last minute upgrade. Having said that, it was nice to have a suite, but I think that we would prefer to have a regular S2. The room and the bathroom were larger than the regular S2. Due to the layout, the bed was between the bath and the balcony, the sofa and desk were across from the bed. Because of this layout, there was less storage, but adequate for our needs. The balcony is nice and large, wider, but not deeper than other S2 balconies. The room was neat and clean and did not show any wear and tear.
