Ship Facts: Carnival Sensation Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Carnival Sensation Deck Plans
Great Time

My wife, adult daughter and I just returned from a great 3 day getaway to Nassau on the Carnival Sensation from Port Canaveral. Our boat left at 4pm but we arrived early around 1:30 pm on a Thursday 02/20/14. We arrived pulled up the curb to the porters to have our bags checked in. We had 3 checked bags and tipped the guys $10. (fair) Our bags were already labeled with our pre printed tags from our online check in. We then drove just around the corner to the parking garage. Parking was $60 for 3 nights. The garage is right next to the boat. It was a short walk the line to check in with passport and 1 check in bag loaded with 1 750 ml bottle of wine each. (this will save you alot of money and is allowed) from Garage to boat was only about 20 min.

The boat is very old with old Club 54 decor but they keep it very clean. Everything works no dents no holes just 80's decor.

Our boat departed at 4pm so we had to be on deck for the emergency escape drills at 3:30pm. That was only 20 min and you NO LONGER have to walk around with your life vest so as soon as the drill if over you can start the party/vacation.

We had a choice of early/ late or whenever dinner times. We chose the whenever and each night there was no wait. Food was okay, Wife and are are Carnivores, daughter is a vegetarian and there were plenty of options for both.

Comedy was was great, shows were good, Karaoke was fun, and the club was lively.

Since we have cruised tot he bahamas before we didn't use the cruise ship tours. (too pricey) when you get off the boat there are a group to taxi guys there waiting to take you where ever you like (very safe and licensed) However whenever we go we use Perry McPhee (Divine Servants tour) perry_mcphee@gmail.com. This guy is great. He gives a very detailed, information, full tour for as long as short as you like. it was 3 in our party and he added about 5 others to the van. Of course we eased every ones minds and assured them it was safe since we were repeat tourist. He takes you all over the island stopping at high end shops to low end markets, we stopped for fresh conch (Bahama staple) We stopped for drinks, tour of the Atlantis. A 4 hour safe education tour for $25 pp.YES only $25. you would pay triple that through the ship.. After the tour we hit Senior frogs and capped the evening off with drinks, food and laughs with a lot of new friends.

OUr last day on the ship was a day at sea. This is when you will spend the most money on the boat on drinks but it was great weather and fun contest on the boat right by the pool so we stayed there all day long before changing for dinner.

All in all great 3 day getaway. Since this was off season we found a great deal. Great weather and met great friends

This is NOT a top of the line boat and this boat is more of a party atmosphere but if this is your first cruise the 3 day is perfect to get your feet wet and to see if you like it before hitting the 7-10 cruise on the nicer boats. The staff is very friendly and professional on the 3 day. Also we normally tip all the staff very well during our stay so at the end of the cruise they will automatically add $10 per day per person as a tip. However you can alter this amount up or down. We did half of that because again we tipped our waiter everyday and our room staff daily.

Have fun and enjoy.
