Ship Facts: Disney Fantasy Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Disney Fantasy Deck Plans
Family Cruise

We recently returned from our family vacation on the Disney Fantasy. We booked a year ahead and were traveling with another family who had done several Disney cruises, this was our first. It pays to book in advance! During the year, we booked flights, hotel room (we like to arrive a day or two early - in case of weather problems), shuttles, and excursions (one through the cruise line and one on our own - see below).

For shuttle service we used A Busy Traveler Transportation and booked online through their website. Robin was very accommodating and picked our group up at our hotel near the Orlando airport, a party of 8, and we were the only ones in the van ride to and from the ship. The day we got off the ship, we got off early and they were in the area and picked us up within 15 min of calling and we were on our way back to the Orlando airport. The rates were half the amount by many of the larger shuttle services or through the cruise line.

The cruise was a much needed break from the long winter in the Midwest. St. Maarten and St. Thomas were beautiful. St. Thomas is much more Americanized but the driving is on the left side of the road. St. Thomas we did the mini-boats, Captain Nautica, and it was a blast. The two guys go through the safety and operations guidelines and off you go. Very very fun! Snorkel for almost an hour about 4 miles away. In St. Maarten, both families went together to do a private tour with Benard's Tour. Our guide was fun and informative, and he said we got to decide where we went and how long we stayed - very nice tour of both sides of the island.

All in all the ship was beautiful, there were tons of activities for all ages, and enough time to catch some time in the sun just relaxing. The wave phones are awesome and safe you a ton of time not having to track people down all the time. Castaway Cay is a great family island. We were hoping for more ocean waves beach area, but they are blocked off and makes swimming area very calm.

The staff was great, Pete and Mariya at dinner were very kind! And fun!!

It was a great trip!
