My Husband and I had a wonderful time on a 10 night cruise on Grandeur of the Seas! The timing of the cruise was perfect for us- it left on Saturday February 8th and return on Tuesday Feb 18th, we both had Presidents off from work, so we were able to enjoy a lengthy cruise and only take 6 days off of work! We are both in our late 20s, and LOVE cruising. This is my 9th cruise (our 6th Cruise together) and we have sailed on Norwegian, Carnival, Celebrity and one RC previously. There was only one other couple close to our age on the ship- I would say the average age was 80- but that was OK with us! Everyone we spoke to was genuinely nice and we met many wonderful new friends! We are very easy going people- we are happy to escape the NY cold and be disconnected from our jobs (We are both in client focused businesses and make ourselves available 24/7, Christmas and cruising once a year is the only time we shut off/ignore our phones).
Embarkation: Leaving out of Baltimore was a breeze! We drove down from New York, and stayed the night before at Fairfield Inn in White Marsh, they have a park and Stay Package, so for $150 we stayed and were able to leave our car! They also shuttled us to the cruise port, which was included in the price. I also heard a Best Western offers the same program.
Ship/Entertainment: The Ship was small but beautiful! We loved the Artwork, and enjoyed the layout of the ship. It was easy to get from one end of the ship to the other, and we really enjoyed the solarium, hot tubs and Movies under stars. The shows in the main theater were good most of the time, but the other entertainment was geared towards 80+ (which doesn't surprise me, since that was the average age!). Comparing Lines, we feel that Norwegian and Carnivals entertainment is geared towards our demographic. Every Night they had 2 for 1 Martinis for Happy Hour from 7p-9p, which we took advantage of a few times! We are not big drinkers, and this was a fun way to try new drinks! The daytime activities put on by the cruise directors staff were fun! Rick & Daryl are the best cruise director staff we have ever seen! They hosted a 70s party that included dancing from the production team that was a blast!
