Another NCL cruise, another review. My wife and I usually take one cruise a year. Since stepping onto the deck of the Majesty in 2008, we have only sailed with Norwegian. This is cruise number seven, and the first time we have sailed on the inaugural itinerary week. We sailed the second week on Breakaway since it coincided with our wedding anniversary. Before NCL, we did sail with three other lines which puts us up to cruise number 12 overall.
Just like with Breakaway, check in was quick, and boarding appeared to be controlled chaos. We were in boarding group 11, and I could see the staff's frustration as groups eight through eleven were all called at the same time. Even with this glut of passengers, we still got on board very quickly, and slightly ahead of the official noon boarding time. Cabins were ready by 1:00 pm.
We chose a mid-ship balcony cabin for this cruise. The cabin is spacious, and there is plenty of storage. I still wonder why the only electrical outlet is on the vanity table. My wife has sleep apnea, and I have to pack a six foot extension to connect her CPAP. I also pack a multi-outlet surge protector to charge our growing list of electronic devices. The balcony is small, but it's not the nightmare that some would have you believe. I am actually sitting on the balcony now, early in the morning watching the lights of St Thomas in the distance as I write this part of the review. One important note about the balcony. When you open the door it turns off the air conditioning. My wife, still in bed, is getting warmer by the minute as I enjoy the early morning breeze.
