We are a couple traveling without children and was prepared to have kids running all over the place and mediocre food. I am glad to report that I was wrong.
Just some observations in comparison with other cruise lines.
Great job on the seafood & lamb dishes. Especially enjoyed the stone crab claws available every day at the lunch buffet
Honorable mentioned: Wild mushroom soup, sea bass & snapper entries, the lobster tail is fresh and boiled to perfection, most other cruise lines can be water logged
Buffet: Check out the Ham & cheese omelet, grilled steaks, vegetables are not overcooked, plenty of choices for vegetarians, grilled lamb chops, self served soda, hard ice cream. [The soft self-served ice cream with different flavor everyday are just ok] (Chocolate, vanilla and twist are standard and available daily)
The sit down restaurants are a great alternative to the busy buffet areas. Did not need to go to Palo or Remy.
The famous Disneyworld turkey legs in late night buffet on Pirate Night was a nice surprise.
Buffet not open for dinner
Elegant and clean ship. Definitely a head turner, especially in port and in comparison with any other cruise ships docked next to the Fantasy. Lifeguards at all the kiddy pools, even on the beaches of their private island.
Unique Disney theme ship horn. Fireworks at sea!
Liquid hand cleaner available all over ship, hand wipes are passed out to every guest in all food areas.
Did I mention clean, clean and clean? Even in the children areas.
Adult sections are strictly enforced, but a miss on putting a kiddy pool on deck 12 aft above one of the adult pool area on deck 11
Kids are well behaved; some of the parents are obnoxious and need lessons in manners.
Surprisingly a lot of repeat cruisers and adults without children.
Ports: Best Island – Castaway Cay.
Yes, the theater shows are Disney themed but the quality of the production is top notch, first run movies, saw Frozen in 3D and Saving Mr. Banks. 24/7 Disney/Pixar movies available on demand in cabin.
Very comfortable. We had a veranda on Deck 7 . A lot of thought went into the design – twin bathrooms. One with sink & tub shower, the other has sink and toilet. Heavy curtain separates the bed from the queen size sofa bed gives some privacy.
Plenty of storage, need to insert your room card to activate in room lights and air conditioning
Two cell phones in each cabin – guest can be in touch if on different parts of the ship.
Crew – You can tell that all are genuinely interested in meeting all you expectations. They’ll go above and beyond for you. It is the happiest place at sea.
Bottom line, I highly recommend a cruise on the Disney Fantasy.
