Sail Date: Feb 2014

We sailed out of Tampa on Feb 6,2014. We had booked a grand suite through RCL. The first suprise was when we recieved an email from Anis, the concierge on The Brilliance of the seas. He asked if we had any special needs or question concerning our cruise. We did have a couple of things and sent him an email. I was pleasently suprised he responded quickly with answers to all my questions. He put us in cruise mode very quickly, having direct contact with someone on the ship was a really nice touch.

We arrived at the terminal at 10:30, boarding was a snap there was a line for suite guests and we were on board in no time. The cabins weren't going to be ready til 1 pm so we went to the Windjammer for an early lunch. Lunch in the Windjammer was typical nothing outstanding good food and plenty of it. We walked around the ship it was very clean and the staff was welcoming and friendly. We went to our cabin,a grand suite 1534, it was very nice, spotless and well lighted. The extra room was well worth the $ and having Anis as a concierge made us feel very special.

We had My Time Dining and made all of our dinner reservations prior to boarding. There is a special line for suite guests, another perk. The MDR was nice we had the same servers each night Gabriel and Daniel they were excellent they knew our names and were very friendly and an entertaining pair. The shows were average a review, a headliner and a comedian.,another suite perk were prime reserved seats for the shows. The casino was small and very crowded. There was a 6 $ blackjack table and the usual assortment of slots and table games, the dealers were friendly I,m not a smoker and I noticed the smoke every now and then but it wasn't too bad. The only downer for the cruise was the spa.On the first night we were given a coupon for 30 $ off any face or body trearment on any port day. We went shopping in Cozemel and got back on the ship early so I decided to get a shave it was 45 $ I figured I"d use the coupon and with a tip get a nice 35$ shave . Well it turned out that the coupon wasn't good for a shave (Face treatment right ? ) I really hate that the spas on all ships I've been on always seem to try to upsell or sell you products after a relaxing treatment and are pretty insistant almost pushy, it takes away from whatever I just paid to have done and usually puts me off. Turns out the coupon wasn't really good for anything in the spa and was a waste of paper. The saving grace on this was Anis, I asked him to help me understand what the point of the coupon was he got on the phone and after a few minute conversation with the spa manager look as confused as I was about the whole thing, so he comped us dinner at Chops on our last night. He said his job was to put a smile on our faces, He was very good at his job :) The last day at sea was good we had dinner at Chops it was very good our server Michelle was so helpful and her description of the sizes of the portions kept us from ordering too much, if you eat at Chops you need to try the creame' bulee it rocks. We arrived back in port on time but there was a problem with customs so we were delayed about an hour getting off the ship but all in all we had a great time and we booked Freedom of the Seas in Oct 14.

Cabin Review

Lots of closets, extra room was nice, large balcony with lounge chair and table and chairs. The bathroom had double sinks and a tub. Grand suite includes Concierge's Lounge very nice before and after dinner drinks.
