Firstly when we arrived in Tenerife airport there was a coach waiting for us to take us to a hotel instead of the ship because we couldn’t board the ship as it was being fumigated due to an outbreak of Noro Virus, we thought Oh well at least Thomson’s are doing something about it, but then we boarded the ship and after a few days realised that Thomson’s probably were at fault for the outbreak as the standards on board the Thomson Celebration were very poor.

Firstly, the standard of food was terrible i.e. tinned fruit, stale bread, canteen standard sloppy hot food and poor quality deserts in the Lido Buffet, the service was that poor we felt like the food was being rationed, the staff were poorly trained (at one point we noticed one of the staff members crouched underneath drinks counter having a drink himself, I had to change my cutlery twice because it was dirty and the glasses used for cold drinks could have been cleaner. The service at the food pass was slow and the staff were disinterested, the attitude was take it or leave it, with no offers of any alternatives, sometimes the food was behind the scenes but none of it was on offer at the pass, one comment which was made to me by another cruiser was: “just ask if you want something in particular, they usually have it tucked away behind the scenes, I know, I’ve cruised with Thomson’s before, they have it, you just have to ask for it”. The Meridian Restaurant was no better by the time the food arrived it was luke warm. This is not the customer service we expected from Thomson’s! The ship was very noisy, tired, old and very creaky. I have cruised over 20 times in rougher seas than on this trip and never been sea sick, I was sea sick 3 times on this ship and the seas were not as rough, this ship was being tossed around like a toy dinghy in much calmer seas.

We were both very disappointed with this cruise and will not be recommending or sailing with Thomson’s ever again, we can’t say that the cruise had any good points whatsoever. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!! We complained to Thomson’s when we got back and they replied basically saying that all the feedback they had received from customers on the same cruise had been positive (basically saying we were liars) not really liars though when we look on different review websites and the majority of reviews agree with what we are saying!!!
