Having cruised with Norwegian only once before ( 10 years ago) we were anxious to repeat our lovely experience with this cruise line. Our embarkation was delayed for several hours by the necessity of disinfecting the entire ship. This was understandable. Arriving in our lovely suite we were told one piece of luggage was being detained. That luggage was returned to us 8 hours after we had arrived at the terminal. The luggage was opened and searched and a bottle of wine was confiscated. We were told that it would be returned the last night of our sailing. Theoretically, we could drink it on our last night at sea, but not at any other time during the cruise. For what we paid for 14 nights in a suite, it was insulting to have our luggage searched and a single bottle of wine taken away.
Our room steward couldn't have been nicer and our stateroom was perfect..
Never having experienced "freestyle" dining we were dismayed at how poorly the complimentary dining rooms More
operated. It was chaotic, with long lines, and repetitious menus. The one night we did eat at a specialty restaurant we were unimpressed with the limited selections on the menu.
Buffet food was all hand served by crew members, extremely inefficient. The staff seemed generally unhappy and overworked.
Most everyone I spoke with on this cruise was very disappointed in just about every aspect of the mediocre service. Less
