We did the back to back Auckland-Sydney- Auckland cruise. It was the best cruise we have done [finally made it to elite on the 2nd leg, which helped & our 1st time in a balcony cabin, which made a huge difference].Before we boarded we were sent a couple of emails warning us of a delay in sailing due to a norovirus outbreak on the previous cruise. That turned out to be good news as there was little sickness on both the cruises we did.
Embarcation was the quickest we have encountered todate [they must be getting the hang of things].The cabin was spacious, well layed out & in a great position on the ship. great location, pretty quiet, except in real rough weather when the sliding door & walls of the cabin creak quite a bit.A spacious cabin although I don't know how large size passengers get on in the very small shower cubicles [they are the same throughout the ship].Would definitely take this cabin again.
All of the crew were very friendly, helpful & More seemed happy. Our 1st port of call was Tauranga where we encountered the windiest I can remember for this port,it was so bad the ship could not pull away from its berth,so we stayed until 3am & therefore missed out on the next port [Akaroa],the sea was a bit rough [so other passengers told us],but the cabin location meant we did not feel it that bad.
Other than that it was smooth sailing, the shows on board were so so,although the Freddie Mercury impersonator was really good [& he was a kiwi to boot],certainly got the crowd involved. The disembarkation at the end was even quicker than when we boarded,so all in all a great holiday. Less

Port and Shore Excursions
as the ship does not dock in Christchurch,we land instead at Akaroa,a lovely small town with a French influence
the above coach trip encompasses Banks Peninsular
The cathederal is in a state of disrepair from the earthquake, the coach tour above stops for photo oppertunity
If you booked on the ship it cost $US129,for a similar trip booked on line it cost us $NZ65 [we took 6 other passengers with us & they thought it was an awesome trip].The coach picks you up in Akaroa at the end of the pier where the ship lands you, have great photo stops a tour of the damaged Christchurch, with nearly 2 hours of freetime to explore the city.Good value trip.
