My husband and I are frequent cruisers usually going on longer "30+ day" trips to foreign ports. We are Three Star Mariners on HAL and Elite on Celebrity. We chose this cruise because the dates and departure port matched up with other travel plans and we also wanted to go to Roatan and Belize. We had sailed on NCL twice about 15 years ago. We knew NCL Freestyle was not our preferred cruise experience but we were willing to give it a try with an open mind.

Departure from Tampa was delayed due fog in the Tampa area resulting in the late arrival of the ship into port. NCL did call us and make us aware of the delayed departure time. Since we were dependent upon pre-arranged port transportation we could not change the time we were scheduled to arrive at the port. Since we were early arrivals we were able to sit in the air conditioned terminal while we waited to board. However, there were many lined up outside in the hot sun waiting extended periods of time.

We had a small inside cabin and it was small, but we knew that when we booked. We did like the bathroom configuration and thought the shower was much improved over others we have experienced. Disappointing was the lack of public space around the ship where you could sit comfortably to read, converse or simply watch the water go by.

Cabin Review

Cabin was small but we knew that when we booked. The bed was made up together but the cabin would work better with two twins. Asked to have the bed changed, never happened.Liked the bathroom configuration. The shower was much better than other ships we have sailed.
