This has gone way downhill, possible due to the now automatic tipping. The servers don't seem to care as much. One bartender was notorious on our cruise for being slow and rude. Regardless, he got tipped automatically with every drink. Our waiter had no personality and as soon as dessert hit the table, he disappeared. He rarely checked on us to see if we liked our dinners. He got an automatic tip, too. We tried breakfast in the MDR once and didn't get waited on until I asked More three different officer types. One of them eventually waited on us but was clearly annoyed by having to do so. This used to never happen.
As for the food, the MDR was not good. Of the 4 dinners eaten in the MDR, I can remember none of them for being good but distinctly remember two really poor main dishes. I couldn't order anything else because our waiter disappeared. (Chops was excellent and worth the extra money.) The Windjammer was fine for breakfast but had no variety at all. Same thing every morning.
Tendering in Belize
Total and complete disaster. RCCL stops in Belize all the time. They have to do better. We stood in line for two hours to get off the ship. I'm sure others stood in line much longer. Because of this, my non-RCCL excursion got cut short. A group I saw going back to the ship missed their excursion altogether. Staff wandered around looking clueless. None them gave a straight answer about what was going on. They changed the line location several times.
We chose "self carry" because, even though RCCL had our flight information at the time we booked our cruise, they gave us a very late time to leave via luggage tag. RCCL gave two times for "self carry" to leave the ship yet when we went to Studio B to wait, they sent us off the ship and put us in line with everyone else. This created a long, long line to get off the ship and a whole lot of folks nervous about making flights. The wait wasn't air conditioned down on deck 1. They had just one line open for scanning seapass cards to get off the ship. It took more than an hour just to get off the ship and then stand in a long, hot outside line to get to customs.
This is the first time we've had issues like this and I hope they are isolated incidents and not harbingers of things to come. Less
