Some background: 14 of traveling, 4 staterooms in a row standard inside cabins, 6 children ages 4 to 13, 1st disney cruise for all of us. Some of us had been on other cruise lines before
Pros: the service, any problem we had was quickly fixed, our servers were fantastic. Christine our cabin steward did wonderful. Right down to the princess/ cars sheets on the kids beds. We were a little difficult because the kids all took turns in grandma/grandpas cabin. All the kids loved the clubs. I was very impressed with how much stuff they got to keep. Tshirts when they danced on stage with Mickey and Minnie, they colored pillow cases from plutos pj party. My younger two (4 and 6) choose to go to clubs instead of the show each night.
Characters, they are everywhere. Around dinner time there are organized opportunities which you can get in line for or just walking around the ship we found several, Cinderella, Peter Pan, daisy, etc. my niece took an elevator ride with stitch. I overheard a little girl asking where Alice was and the crew member told her she was on the Magic. So I don't know if certain characters are on certain ships.
Castaway cay, fantastic. No problem getting a chair. The beach was a big highlight of the trip. Since it is private there isn't anyone hassling you to buy something. The whole island is beautiful. We took a bike ride. Very easy, part of the trail is an old runway so long and flat path.
Cons: the food. We had better food on Carnival. The lunch buffet were really bad. We ended leaving an going out to the pool side for chicken strips and salad wraps. Maybe just too fancy for our family. Choices like roasted lamb
I wouldn't pay for snorkeling again on castaway cay. My sister in law and her husband went and said they and didn't see anything but one type of whitish fish. Which we saw in the water on the family beach. So my husband and I didn't even go use ours. And the water was a little bit nippy but once in it was ok
Cozumel, would have been ok without the kids, just hard to keep kids together in a crowded shopping center. And that $20 cab ride to the beach is per person. Which with 9 of us wanting to go it was too much for us so we all went back the ship and swam for free. With kids I would recommend buying an excursion on ship
My husband and I went to the vacation club meeting and won $200 on board credit. Then we used it on the picture package it is $250 for the cd then $50 for the prints. Since we knew we had the package we went to every photo opportunity we ended up with 149 pictures on the disk and about 70 printed 8x10s and 25 printed 5x7s. I will do this package again even without my $200 prize.
We are hoping to do another cruise in 2-3 years
