Carnival Pride Pro's and Con's
Just got home from our Cruise to the Bahama's on the Carnival Pride sailing out of Baltimore.
We upgraded only a week prior to our trip to a Vista Suite on Deck 5. We had VIP check-in and got on the ship in about a half hour. Our luggage got to our room just before dinner. The suite was awesome and our steward Erda was readily available. He was very friendly and helpful. The room was cleaned and beds made a couple times each day. The towel creations each day were fun and entertaining Being the first week in February we were not able to take full advantage of the extra large balcony that came with our Vista Suite. Really only had 3 SUN days. However, it will be difficult to get anything less than a suite from now on.
This was the second time we cruised with Carnival and were hoping to get an invite to the Captain's cocktail hour, but that did not happen. Our invite must have been misplaced.
We were disappointed in the quality of the food this time around. It More was hit or miss in the dining room. Some good, some bad. We felt the food was mostly bland and or tasteless. On a positive note: All the desserts were fantastic! And the service was great. We took advantage of dining at David's Steak house one night. Top quality all the way! Wish we had done this more than once. The Lido Deck offered an alternative to the dining room. There is a limited variety including pizza, chicken fingers, hot dogs and hamburgers. The deli did not suite my taste buds. All just OK in my book with the exception of the salad bar that offered fresh fruit and fresh veggies each day. I also ran into some issues with getting fresh eggs. It seems every time I got to the head of the line, all they had was egg blend for omelets or scrambled eggs. Desserts at the buffet were good, but they always shut them down too soon.
The casino was a great, large meeting area. Plenty of seating. Half of the bar was smoking and the other half not. Smoking was also allowed on the Lido Deck by the open pool. The casino offered Slots as well as table games. No real luck this cruise but enjoyed hanging out and meeting people.
The comedy shows were the highlight of our cruise. Saw a female comedian (wish I could remember her name) and also saw Mike Macy's act twice. He was hilarious! We also had the pleasure of talking to him after one of his shows. He is very approachable and just as funny one on one. We hope to see his performances again on future cruises.
The spa offerings were extensive and reasonable as far as cruise prices go. The shops were reasonable as well.
Dis-embarkment took about 3 hours since we had to be out of our room by 9 AM. I guess VIP status only gets you ON the ship quickly.
Regardless of the negatives, we found this cruise to be very relaxing and fun! Which is just what we needed. Less

Cabin review: Carnival Pride Suite Upper 5266
This Vista Suite was just what we needed. Plenty of room to move about and the Large Balcony was awesome. Plenty of closet and drawer space. Bathroom was also roomy with 2 sinks and a Jacuzzi bathtub!
