Amazing and wonderful vacation on the Splendor!

Sail Date: January 2014
Destination: Bahamas
Embarkation: New York (Manhattan)

We had a wonderful vacation sailing out of NewYork to the Bahamas.

This was our second cruise on the Splendor. We went on as a couple for the first cruise but travelled as a group and took our adult children and their spouses on this one.

Great food in all venues. Especially loved the Deli, the Tandoor and the Omelet stations.

Awesome wait staff for our dinners in the Gold Pearl Dining Room. So thankful for the excellent services provided by Dusko, Ruben and Win. Special attention was given to accommodate the gluten free dietary needs of one person in our party of 11. Not one of us had any complaints about the delicious dinners we enjoyed. The taste and presentation of each plate was superb. We LOVE Carnival's food and dining services.

The entertainment was good. Lots of trivia. Lots of comedy. Tonya Scott in the piano bar was great. So was the duo of Sweet 2. Fandango was impressive (but couldn't stay too long when they played in the casino area More because of the overpowering smoke from the casino) Didn't spend too much time in the Lido Theatre but did enjoy watching the Super Bowl under the stars. Also enjoyed the line dancing sessions/classes and fun events. Personally, I wish that they would play more Caribbean style music by the pool. Possibly a calypso steel band out there rather than the DJ ?

The shows were wonderful. Latin Fiesta, The Beat, Vroom were all well-done. Love the 'glittery surprise' element at the end of the show. Janae Longo and Todd Evans are very talented entertainers. All the dancers put out so much energy as they perform. Checked out the Karaoke a couple of times and watched the auditions for the Legends show. Those who made the cut did a wonderful job on the final night with the Legends Show. Kudos to our fellow cruisers!

Port Canaveral was a rainy, cold day. We ventured off ship for about 3 hours and headed to Ron Jon's and a bunch of our group actually did some surfing. The rest spent time enjoying the free WIFI at Starbucks.

Nassau was wonderfully warm and we made it a beach day at Junkanoo. Nice easy walk from the ship. When the sun started to set, we headed for the shops and the Straw Market to find some souvenirs.

Freeport. This was our first time visiting Freeport and we went to Paradise Cove to do some snorkelling. It was an amazing day! We saw turtles, spotted eagle rays, a barracuda, a nurse shark, lots of beautiful corals and stunning varieties of fish. The weather and the water temps were warm and comfortable. Will definitely visit Paradise Cove next time we are in Freeport.

The sea days were relaxing yet entertaining. The day after Freeport was hot on deck and we enjoyed the sun, mini-golf and food! Sea Day Brunches were always delicious. Some members of our party purchased the SPA package and loved it.

We booked all of our cabins on the Riviera Deck #1 because we wanted to avoid motion sickness issues for some of our first time cruisers. However, no one had any real issues with the motion and all reported that they loved their cabins, their stewards and their good night's rest. Our cabin steward Jeffrey and his assistant Rais took great care of us and our room. No complaints! We are grateful.

Embarkation was smooth and quick, as was debarkation. We enjoyed our fellow cruisers and made lots of friends. Great memories. Less
