We have recently returned from the six night Taste of Asia Cruise having cruised with Royal Caribbean on quite a few occasions. Firstly we were very disappointed to find that despite being frequent cruisers, along with two other couples on our table we were on a dining table tucked away at the back in the dark depths of the bottom level under an extremely low ceiling. We requested to be moved to a more pleasant table which was dismissed out of hand - what a way to treat returning clients and despite the fact there were empty tables in far more pleasant surroundings. Our waiter was fine but the quality of the food was just not up to the standard we expect with Royal Caribbean until, that is, we ate in the top level dining area when one evening was designated freetime eating. The quality of the food was outstanding as was the very solicitous service - an extraordinary difference. This level is used for My Time dining and a maître d` was in attendance - we never even saw a maître d` in the our pit despite requesting to speak to him!
As far as the bar areas on the deck are concerned we could not believe that we had to queue at poolside bars which were severely understaffed, something we have never had to do before - always waiter service. I was asked if I wanted a drink once whilst sitting on the sunbeds - could this to be to do with the drinks packages that have been introduced. Gone were the days the drinks waiters would know you by your Christian name.
Our cabin was lovely - good size and kept exceptionally clean and tidy by our cabin steward. We had a couple of technical problems one of which he was able to rectify but the second he wasted no time in taking the next level to rectify. Nothing was too much of a problem for him.
