15 Great Days on the Miracle to Paradise!

Sail Date: January 2014
Destination: Hawaii
Embarkation: Los Angeles

We had a great time sailing to Hawaii on the Miracle for 15 days. We did encounter some rough seas which did prevent us from tendering in the port of Kona and caused us to be late into Maui, but Carnival doesn’t have the ability to control the weather just yet!

We had cruised on the Miracle before and were able to book the cabin right next to our previous cabin. We had an Aft Ext cabin 8277 and enjoyed all aspects of having a Aft cabin. Our Steward was good, not great, but always kept our ice full and the room very clean, along with great towel animals every night!

We chose Late dining and John Heald helped us with getting a table for 2, and boy did we hit the jackpot! We had the best wait staff, every night they happily welcomed us and made dinner one of the highlights of the cruise. They would bring us dishes the felt were the best and every one was a hit, since this was a 15 days cruise the normal Carnival MDR menus were changed around so this made it so More much fun to have surprises all the time. Every dish was hot and fresh and tasted great!

Hawaii was spectacular, despite the wide range of weather from port to port. On Maui we went up to Haleakala and froze! It was an awesome experience looking at the crater and scenery but the weather did diminish it a bit. Our trip to Hilo was the best! We did the Gourmet Volcano Excursion and it was great. Our guide Nathan really made it a fun day, he was so personable and I helped that it was a small group of 11 very nice people. Every aspect of this tour was better than anticipated. On Kauai we went to Waimea Canyon and had a real adventure, our bus blew a tire which led to a long delay until a replacement bus showed up. To make up the time the driver went up the hill at full speed and scared a lot of people! By the time we got to the top it was raining and foggy, so it did impact the ability to see very much. The problems with the tour could not have been controlled by Carnival. In Honolulu we packed in a side trip to Waikiki, Whale Watching!, and a Luau. It was raining a little during the Whale trip, but we did see quite a few Whales and did enjoy the trip. The Paradise Cove Luau was a lot of fun. We were disappointed to miss Kona, but watching the seas it was easy to see why Carnival did not want to chance tendering.

The staffs throughout the trip were always friendly and happy to help with anything. We had to change a couple of tours due to the issues with the seas but the Excursion desk was happy to help and promptly refunded for missed tours. The only somewhat negative thing I would say is that we did wish that the Entertainment staff would have more activity with so many sea days. We won 3 Ships on a Stick during trivia, but we would have liked to see other things planned, especially in the afternoon. The CD Troy was very good, he did not flood us with announcements and was not over the top, his staff could use some work, but they were all very friendly, maybe just a little too young.

We were the first people to talk to the Future Cruise Advisor, and booked a B2B on the Dream for 2015. The process was very simple, Kent was very competent was very happy to see that we had all our documentation printed out and researched beforehand. Booking both cruises took about 30 minutes total, mainly due to slow speeds being at sea.

Embarkation was very slow, mainly due to the way Long Beach is setup, We have Platinum Embarkation and actually were the first 2 people on after the wedding groups! I put the fault of the slowness on the port and not on Carnival. We did self assist debarkation and were off the ship and at LAX by 9AM.

Overall we had a great and very relaxing trip, we had some memorable experiences. The night before heading into Maui we had the roughest seas and we had glasses fly off the counter and smash all over the floor! We called Housekeeping and they showed up within 10 minutes and vacuumed and cleaned everything up. The staff said they were very busy with a lot of glasses breaking all over the ship. All of our encounters with staff on the ship was awesome, they were always pleasant and happy to help. Less

Cabin review: Carnival Miracle Balcony Panorama 8277

We had previously been in the cabin next door and really enjoyed being in a Aft Ext cabin on 8. We loved the room, it was spacious and always kept very clean. The balcony was great, we never saw and trash from the Serenity above and never heard any noise except for one night went it was very windy.
