Sail Date: January 2014
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: New Orleans

Although we have done 14 cruises, this was our first with ncl. We found the ship to be the cleanest we have been on. The staff was the friendliest we have ever encountered. The food, however, was far below our expectations. As previously mentioned by another cruiser, it appears that they are encouraging their passengers to use the alternate dining options. Very limited menu in the dining rooms. Very disappointed with their 'steak'- it was a tough, thin cut that would normally be found only on a steak sandwich. They had the exact same steak on the night they described it as filet mignon/with shrimp (three tiny overcooked shrimp atop the thin steak).

Cabin was satisfactory. Loved the fact that the shower had a glass sliding door and not a curtain! Storage space was great also-lots of shelves and drawers.

Getting on and off the ship was easy. Liked that they actually counted passengers on their safety drill, Princess does not do this anymore. Entertainment was good More every night. Did not like the tender-we did not use ncl's tender boats but used a private island ferry that did not have life-jackets for all passengers. When we questioned this we were told there were more in a cupboard-but how could you access these if the boat tipped?????? First time to visit New Orleans and we loved the city-safe and very friendly people. Less

Port and Shore Excursions

Altun Ha

We did not enjoy this tour at all. Worse tour we have ever been on (14 cruises). The bus ride there long and the tour guide never stopped talking-most of the time it had nothing to do with the ruins themselves, he would give history lessons on cities passengers said they were from! Not much to see at the ruins, the guide would only let us climb up one even though other tours were climbing more. He said unsafe to do so.

Dune Buggy

(4)

This was a fun tour except the first dune buggy we received had very little brakes and the second kept stalling on us. Beach stop was very nice and they provided a great buffet style lunch (you could eat all you wanted, as well as two free drinks). Guides were great, because of the weather the sea was cloudy and it was recommended that we not go in the ocean.

Snorkeling

(5)

We loved this tour. Had a great guide. Snorkelled, enjoyed beach time, saw a sea lion show, learned about the Mayan's. Great park-there is a dolphin encounter and also a zip-line there.

Island Tour

(2)

Highlight of this tour was Sherman's Iguana Refuge. Tour guide did not talk much.Visited a private residence-not sure why, nothing special about it, the owner had a bar set up where you could purchase drinks and there was a lady selling trinkets. Only saw one side of the island and not much to see!
