I just arrived back this morning from a trip on the Carnival Splendor, while it was a pleasure to leave cold New York for a bit of the tropics I can t help but thinking Wow what a waste of valuable vacation days. First of all the ships cabins are very dated and tacky with stained curtains, broken lamps. We had an oceanview cabin. When we arrived our lock was broken and it took a couple of days before anyone came to repair it.
The food is substandard at best and there was not a lot of choices, there was not much to do on the ship and I often found myself bored. The movies that were shown on the Lido deck were always cut off about 10 minutes before the ending. The games being run by the staff were unorganized. Everything was focused on Carnival getting more of your money rather than what was fun for the guest.
There were some positives. Our cabin steward Imade was great. The staff really work their butts off and play many roles. The entertainment in the theatre was enjoyable. The comedians were fair with the exception of Maecio who was excellent, kudos should also go out to Fluffy the mistress of ceremonies in the comedy lounge.
The cabin was dated, had broken lamps and stained curtains and furniture. The wall had pen marks.
