As we had done on 2 previous holidays we booked a suite on the Thomson Celebration over Christmas expecting the same high quality which we had previously enjoyed. The ship had undergone a degree of refurbishment in November. With so much time out of service the previous month we had expected that basic flaws would be ironed out but they weren't.
The television in our suite had to be repaired. The fridge did not work and it took 2 days to have it replaced. The bath took 20 minutes to drain and, despite reporting the fact, it was never attended to. Requests for assistance went unheeded and the Reception Desk appeared to lack staff with a sufficient command of English. We certainly do not believe we got value for money for the price of the suite.
We pre-booked our excursions but, upon arriving on board were told that one would not be running because it was Christmas Day. It was clearly advertised as running on 25th December so we can only assume that Thomson did not realise that the Christmas Cruise covered Christmas Day as well. Another excursion was not as advertised and it took some time for the Thomson staff to recognise that what they were selling was not what they were advertising.
There were far too many repairs and breakdowns in this suite. The decoration is looking tired and the view is limited - particularly as there is no balcony and some obstruction by the port hole.
