As much as some people don't like to sail Carnival, I thought it necessary to write a review on our Jan 25th cruise. It was great ! Myself, hubby and 6 yr old son went on this sailing. The service was great, smiling faces and helpful crew everywhere. The ship was clean and everywhere you looked someone was cleaning or picking up used food service items.
Embarkation was quick and painless as we had checked in online and only had to go through security and then key pickup. We use Park & Cruise as they are under $9.00 per day to park and they shuttle us to the Port.
Once on-board, lunch on the Lido deck was good. Our cabin , 1395, was on Riviera deck and I was worried about a low deck but it was smooth sailing all week long with calm seas and sunny days, we could not have asked for better weather. The cabin could sleep 5 with a King bed, pull out twin sofa bed and 2 trundle beds, We also had 2 bathrooms, 1 with standing shower, toilet and sink and the other with 1/2 tub and sink. That was very helpful since 2 people can shower at the same time !
Our 6 yr old loved Camp Carnival and so we let him spend some time there every night usually when we went to the dining room for dinner. The food was good in the dining room, better than the buffet, we thought.
On sea days, we lazed around the Aft Deck 10 pool and jacuzzi's. Plenty of lounge chairs all around the pool decks. Our 6 yr old lived in the pool all day and had a great time ! We enjoyed the comedy shows in the evenings as well as the Carnival theater show we attended on the last night.
Ports were great also (St. Thomas, St. Maarten and Nassau). We went to the beach in both St Maarten and St Thomas but stayed on the ship in Nassau as we had been there many times prior.
Overall, it was an excellent experience and I can't find the negatives about Carnival that so many people seem to have especially if cruising on a budget ! We had a problem with not being able to get cool water in the cabin sinks or showers and we reported the issue twice. The plumber came each time and tried but was not able to correct the issue. On the final day of the cruise, without us asking, Guest Services called the cabin to tell us that they were taking off $110 off our Folio and also giving us a 10% discount toward future cruise booking. I thought that was excellent customer service with them anticipating our need to have some type of compensation.
I highly recommend cruising the Eastern Caribbean on the Carnival Dream !
