We sailed on the Jewel last year and enjoyed it. This year we were excited to get on the new Breakaway. Embarking was easy. Once on the ship the problems started. We were herded on a deck with no instructions where to go. Our rooms were not ready and most of the dining rooms were closed. The cafe was overcrowded. When we finally got to our room, we found the smallest cabin ever with a three foot closet and no chair or drawers for clothes.

On the first night the hall was littered with dishes and a broken wine glass that was still there in the morning. The garden cafe was full by 7:30 AM. We found very few options for food. We are vegetarians and were guaranteed at least one entree for dinner. Three days had none. Two days the food was under cooked and all but one day the food was served cold or tepid. One day the vegetarian meal was prepared with chicken broth and our waiter had to ask for it to be cooked vegetarian. Most meals were not balanced (high carb/low protein) . Several days our only option was veggie burgers or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. This for $2600.

Our cabin attendants spent most of their time playing with their phones. We had to ask for hand soap and clean towels. The halls had dirty trays and scraps of debris for days. The halls were the narrowest I have ever seen. When they had their cleaning carts in the hall, it was hard to pass.

Cabin Review

Smallest cabin ever. No chair. No drawers. Tiny three foot closet. Very small safe hidden in closet. Dirty glasses on first day.
