Royal Princess Cruise Review by Janhk: The Royal Princess

The Royal Princess
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)
After reading reviews, both positive and negative, we decided to sail on the Royal Princess. She is a large new ship and we found an attractive price. We have cruised with several different cruise lines over the years so I must admit we were comparing this with our other experiences.
Overall, we had a great time! The food was better than average, the employees were pleasant and helpful, and the ship was clean and new. As for the entertainment, we especially enjoyed the illusionist. We signed up for the Enclave at the Spa. It is a lovely facility, but we wish there had been an option to purchase daily visits instead of the entire week. The ports were places we had visited before and we struggled to find something new to see and do. So far as shore excursions, we would highly recommend the America's Cup race in St. Maarten!
The biggest complaints that we heard and concur with are regarding the ship's design. There are no stairs midship so everyone had to use the More elevators. The cabins are some of the smallest that we have seen. We had a balcony but it was just barely large enough to fit two chairs. The fitness area was nice but the smoking area of the ship was just outside of this. The ship's decor was tasteful but it was poorly designed. Anyway, the ship's design should not impact the fun you can have on this ship. Enjoy your vacation! Less
