Completely Satisfied

Sail Date: January 2014
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

After reading numerous less than spectacular reviews regarding Crown Princess and ongoing A/C and toilet issues, we were cautiously optimistic about this cruise. We were quickly relieved after boarding. We found the A/C to be working (no better or worse than other cruises) and the toilet to flush as prescribed...although sometimes with a quick delay. We felt that the ship and room were very clean and tidy, and not nearly as worn as you may be led to believe. Food and service were both excellent...even in the buffet. Entertainment was typical, with many options to choose from.

Very little hall traffic. Quiet with absolutely no noise from Club Fusion. Completely covered balcony. We felt that the extra floor space and full sized bath tub were worth the extra money vs. the balcony room that we normally get. We noticed no more or less movement due to being in the aft section of the ship (in the past we 've booked mid-ship.)

One note...we opted for the EZ Check for our More luggage, and it was money well spent. The cost was $20 each, and made the whole disembark process very painless. We simply attached the provided tags and set our luggage outside the room like normal. Princess checked us in with the airline, delivered our boarding passes to our room, and delivered the luggage to the proper terminal. Our luggage then arrived at our baggage claim at our final destination (much to my surprise!) All in all, a very hassle free experience. Less

Port and Shore Excursions

Everglades Tour

(4)

Made embark fairly quick and easy, and filled the time before the flight out. It included transfer to FLL on a full sized tour bus with luggage stowed underneath. Delivery was to the airline of your choosing, and all luggage was handled for you.

This is a very beautiful beach area with beach right beside the pier. Not a whole lot to do in port. The common opinion of most people we spoke to was that this was mostly a "beach day" port.

Typical beach day. BBQ lunch was provided and was good. We opted for a cabana rental here (not the Sanctuary Cabanas), and I must say that IMHO it was not worth the money. The "beach" in front of the cabanas is solid rock with the same in the water. There are plenty of beach chairs closer to the groomed area of beach. Also, the literature says that the cabanas are for 4 people with an available up-charge for 2 additional people. This is pretty big stretch. If the A/C is actually needed (ours wasn't), 6 people could not fit inside...except standing. If I were to do it all again, I would probably opt for just a locker rental.

Did the CL excursion of a lagoon cruise and scenic drive. Beautiful scenery, quick opportunity for shopping, and informative. Typical of what you would expect.

Beach Break

(5)

The cruise part basically consisted of picking up passengers from other ships. There was live music and cold drinks were available. The beach break was at Honeymoon beach for about 1.5 hours. The water and beach was very nice and not too crowded. Chairs were available to rent, and food carts were present for burgers etc.
