First of all I do not like misleading slogans. Crystal has never been all inclusive. Regent is the closest to that slogan. Crystal does not include shore excursions Regent does, Crystal does not include airfare Regent does. Regent also provides fairly priced upgrades to business class airfare on their trips. They both provide alcohol and coffee and soft drinks. Usually Crystal seems to be playing catch up with Regent in what it offers to guests.
Now even that is not happening Crystal is taking away from it's inclusive things. If you want a second reservation in a specialty restaurant the all inclusive price is$30.00, Regent allows the reservation after others have been there. Caviar is expensive ,but Crystal included it previously. Seabourn has it available. On Crystal now only included on formal nights. Available on non formal nights for a substantial charge.
Some other reductions over the years. No live music in the main dining room anymore. No turn down candy at night. Of course their candy s very bad, but improve it do not eliminate it. Lunch fish portions of under 4 ounces seem really tiny. They have great shows, but after years of the same at least change the songs in opening night show, As we all use the internet Regent has seen the trend and has included it for free on a lot of cruises. If you are a frequent traveler then there is a free allowance of minutes. Why does a cruise line try and get rich at.60 per minute to use the internet? Specialty lunch buffets were a nice touch although to be truthful not very good, they are gone too.
Of course every major luxury cruise line has much newer ships with cabins that are much larger than Crystal's. Regent over 300sq.ft.,Seabourn closer to 360sq.ft,,Cunard Queens Grill closer to 500sq.ft.
Then the new favorite of many Oceania for their Penthouse suite at over 400sq.ft.
All these ships cost about the same as Crystal.
I like Crystal, and I believe they are still the best. However, I am very concerned that we as passengers make plans years ahead and that they change what they are offering sometimes with little or any notice. If plane reservations are made it is to late to go elsewhere.
Many great companies are no longer here because they became arrogant. I hope Crystal's new president is not presiding over the decline of a fine company.
