We are a couple in our fifties and have sailed 4 x with NCL, 1 with Princess and 2x with Royal.
Embarking: Quick and easy, no other way to describe. we flew into Orlando airport the day prior and rented a car to drive over to Port Canaveral from Budget, They have a free shuttle drop off at the port so very easy and cheaper than any shuttle service we have found. We arrived at the Port around 11am and were on the ship relaxing 1/2 hour later. In the past we have purchased a case of bottled water and had it delivered with our luggage, but it did not make it this time. Port workers said they would not guarantee it would. Did couple of years ago, but things change.
My husband took the beer drink package ahead of time, the sticker was on his card when we registered and the refill cup for pop in our cabin. We were a bit concerned that it would be hard to get service but he had no problems. They kept the beer coming and smiled. He gave extra cash tips to his regulars. They now have machines located around the ship to refill your cup for pop etc. I ended up taking the refill package as my water did not make it, that included gourmet coffee ( the ship coffee sucked) water, pop and non alcoholic frozen drinks for 20.00 per day. I would say i broke even or maybe enjoyed an extra drink or two a day from paying seperately.
Our cabin was a nice size, comparable to most. the bed was comfortable. there is no plug in by the bed, my husband has a cpac machine and had to move the stand down towards the end of the bed to sit the unit on it. they had run out of extension cords. we know to take one the next time. People talk of a sewage smell, we did not notice anything on deck 4, but friends were on deck 3 same cable etc and they noticed it in their room and hallway. said the water had a smell at times also. so stay above deck 3 to avoid this.
