Great Ship

Sail Date: January 2014
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Galveston

This was our 9th cruise, 6th on Carnival, and we really enjoyed the Magic. Our spa cabin on deck 11 was perfectly located, secluded, and quiet. Loved the super comfy beds and great pillows. The amazing spa amenities were worth the extra cost of the cabin.

This is the largest ship we've ever been on and had some concerns that it would seem crowded but it didn't at all. In fact, there was an abundance of outdoor spaces and plenty of opportunities to find a good spot to relax. There were pools in several places, lots of hot tubs, and plenty of lounge chairs. (Unless you wanted one by the Lido pool.) Enjoyed all the outdoor movies especially because of the cozy comfy chairs and sofas on several levels around the Lido area with perfect views of the big screen.

The only complaint I have is with Your Time Dining. We've done it several times before with no problem and minimum wait times. This time it was terrible! The lines lapped themselves around the lobby deck and an hour More wait was normal unless you went at the very beginning or at the end. Another minor aggravation was with the so-called Pilates class. I've been a Pilates instructor for years and the guy did not use ANY recognizable Pilates in the whole class. Less

Cabin review: Carnival Magic Interior Panorama 11241

Nothing different than a regular interior other than a few flower pictures and some tropical wallpaper in the hallways. But very quiet and perfectly located.

Cave-Tubing Adventure

Probably the best tour we've taken in all 9 cruises. Book online at cavetubing.bz & ask for Richard as a guide. Excellent city and country tour on the way to the rainforest. Fabulous leisurely 2 mile walk through the rainforest in small groups. Cavetubing.bz carries your tubes to and from the river, unlike many other companies. They also include more caves plus a lovely section of river floating. Even if we had never done any tubing, the tour would have been worth it just for the rainforest experience. The tubing is fun and not to be missed. Then they took us to lunch - good chicken, rice, beans, and cold slaw with your choice of beverage. More info given on tour back to ship. Book online. We paid $50, some paid more but they added ziplining which was available in the same area.

Island Tour

(5)

Good tour of the area, both the city and outlying areas. Monkey park was ok, just small. People seemed to enjoy having the monkeys jump all over them. One jumped at the speed of light from 5 feet away and landed on my chest. Nearly knocked me over even though it was only about 10-12 lbs. Not too sure I would let little kids in the cages. Monkeys are tame, just jump around like crazy. Next stop was at Bananarama Beach Resort. Very nice. Definitely recommend the tour. Price was only $30 for 4.5 hr excursion and you can book online at Victor Bodden Tours.
