Ah yes, the romance of a TA crossing. DW had done 5. I only 2. Neither never on Cunard, and QM2 the largest ship for both. Impressions?
Ship felt crowded, especially Queens Room, Chart Room, and Golden Lion. Sometimes nowhere to sit, though kind guests often made room. Gale force 9 four of seven days. Loved it. Staff competent and helpful. Ship in good shape. Mostly excellent lectures.
Niggles: no complementary single malt permitted, according to our Queens Grill butler. Cheap. Our butler just average--often rushed and mechanical. We asked about caviar canapé, told those were the "deluxe" and had to be asked for especially. We did. They arrived. Again, cheap. Restaurant ok, sometimes fine, our server in particular. Mixed experience ordering off menu: excellent sweetbreads, soso carpaccio, disastrous duck. Well-priced wine list. Professional if rather oily maïtre d', Osman. (Remarkable efforts by all when a guest at a nearby table died.)
Comfortable and midships, happily, during the storms. Average butler. Efficient service.Good in room bkfst daily. Recommend.
