Great week on the Sunshine

Sail Date: January 2014
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: New Orleans

We were so excited to try the newly refurbished Sunshine and it did not disappoint! We loved almost everything about this ship. This was our 9th Carnival cruise and this was one of our favorite ships (we do not like the huge ships-prefer the small-medium size ones) and the Sunshine was the perfect size. It was the first time we had one of the Interior w/window w/walkway at the very front of the ship. We loved the cabin for the price. We had a window and when standing in the cabin could see over the deck outside to the water or land, and outside was a "public deck" (saw very few people on the deck the whole week since no one but the ones in those rooms even realizes it is there). It is a fantastic place to watch the boat pull into or leave port.

The place that wowed us the most was the Lido Market Place (buffet), it was beautiful, all soft neutral color w/light wood, it was nothing like the old tacky lido decks. We loved the booths for 2 sunk back into the walls looking out More the windows to the water. Also enjoyed the more intimate feel of the Liquid Lounge from the old larger show lounge. Everything was so tastefully decorated.

We enjoyed all the entertainment, the shows in the Liquid Lounge were fantastic and cater to a younger audience than what they used to. EPIC ROCK was fantastic the last night of the cruise. We also enjoyed the comedians but the Limelight Lounge was way too small for the many people that want to see them and we were turned away the first night we went and ended up going back later approximately 30 minutes before the next show and there was already a long line to get in. We made it in and just knew to get there early for all the shows, the last show of the night we found to be much less crowded. We also loved the Rock N Roll Time Machine band that played in Ocean Plaza on sea days. Chris & Angelika were fantastic along with their band, they did Disco Night, Motown Night, 80's Night and also had a night where you could sing karaoke with the live band. The dance floor was filled and everyone seemed to really love them.

I do have to say that I am happy that Carnival is trying out some new options with their dining, we found the food to be not as good as it used to be in the Main Dining room for dinner. Do try the Seaday Brunch though, that was very good. We loved the layout and feel of the ship so much we booked a cruise for next Feb on the Sunshine again in the same cabin type. Less

Cabin review: Carnival Sunshine 7102

Loved the Interior with the window overlooking the small public deck. You could see the water/land when standing in the cabin. Public deck was never crowded, only time we saw anyone out there was pulling in or out of port. We loved the room so much we booked our next cruise in the same cabin type on the Sunshine for next year
