Fantastic Ship!

Sail Date: January 2014
Destination: Southern Caribbean
Embarkation: Miami

This was our 17th cruise, first time with Oceania, previously on Celebrity, Holland America, and Princess.

Embarkation was easy and fast arrived at Terminal J at about 12 noon on the ship in less than 25 minutes. Lunch at the buffet was the beginning of a wonderful trip.

Lifeboat drill done in bar area of the ship, was fast and appropriately done.

Lugagge got to our room at about 3pm. Room 8077 was veranda room clean and immaculate. Our steward was one of the best we ever had and the entire ship staff does not know how to say "no" to anyone, they all go the extra mile in helping and serving you. The closet and drawer space makes it a challenge to unpack, but it all fit in. The bathroom is decorated beyond but there is limited counter space. The hot water is always HOT at all times of the day.

The food in the main dining room was good, the speciality restaurants were excellent, getting early reservations for a first timer on this ship was not easy More and we had no luck with trying to get a second reservation at these restaurants as there were just too many senior crusiers on the ship who had priority, that was disappointing. Polo Grill and Jacques were great venues, Red Ginger was excellent the beef teriayki was as advertised!

The Waves Grill for diner has steaks and lobsters everynight ( not heavily advertised on the ship) be sure to try it.

Enterainment contrary to some earlier reviews was pretty good, we did not see the comedian or juggler. After the shows end at about 1030pm there is really no place on the ship to sit and have a cup of coffee or sandwich? The ice cream bar makes free milkshakes/ malteds that were great also. NO pressure to buy drinks or photographs ( never saw a photographer).

At some ports on return to the ship at the dock there were no cold towels or water or lemonade as other cruise lines provide.

Disppointing that the ship did not use its big screen by the pool to show the NFL playoff games. But did show one movie and provided popcorn for a fun atmosphere.

We had no children on the ship and the passengers were mostly over 60 and well mannered and a very nice grpup of people from around the world. Country club casual dress was welcomed by everyone on board.

We were off the ship at 825am in Maimi and through Customs very fast.

Our cruise had great weather through the islands, as we had been to all these islands before we did our own touring. On St. Barts we used JC Blanchard ( who someone ealrier had mentioned on CC) and he was just great. JC speaks English very well and can be found on the internet or at JC taxi 0690 490 297. Note if you go to Niki Beach on the public side there are no beach chairs or umbrellas , they do have them at the Niki Beach Bar but are expensive, had good lunch there also.

Overall great trip and recommend Riveria highly. Less
