We will NEVER go on the Carnival Victory again!!!! We'll probably stay totally clear of Carnival Cruise lines!

We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. Our travel agent told us that many cruise ships would give a cabin upgrade for people celebrating important events. NOT Carnival! We also requested a priest so that we could attend religious services everyday. NOT on Carnival! There wasn't even a chapel or prayer room where we could have some quiet time to pray. We had to retreat to our cabin.

The ship was tacky and as outdated as the nasty old 60's music that was always blasting on the ship! From the time we boarded, the obnoxious DJ was blaring the oldies so loudly that every time we had to walk through that area, we literally ran so we could get out of the noise!

The hot food was mediocre (too many fillers).....Thank God they always had plenty of fresh fruit.

We asked Customer Service (just after we booked our cruise) if there would be a More priest on board, since we are daily Communicants and have never had trouble finding Catholic Churches when we go on vacation. Customer Service NEVER got back to us about our request!!!!! We called and emailed and even did the "homework" for them by giving them contact info for the Apostleship of the Sea, which provides priests (in good standing) to cruise ships who request it. Carnival never did anything about it! Our travel agent suggested we speak with Guest Services on the ship. BIG MISTAKE! Not only were the Guest Services lines always outrageously long, but when we asked the man at the desk about a priest, he'd never heard of a priest and had no idea why we wanted one. We couldn't find a single Guest Services agent who's first language was English (even though most of the passengers were English-speaking). The language barrier was frustrating, to say the least.

For us, having a priest on board is as essential as having a doctor on board!

Carnival owned one the islands we visited. We had to wait almost an hour and a half to disembark for that island because the ship couldn't get close enough to dock (ON THEIR OWN ISLAND)! The shuttle boats were overcrowded and most of the families with small children had to stand! That island (Half Moon Cay) was the most gorgeous island but they definitely need to build a pier to where the ship can dock so people can get off/on faster. Sadly---our time on that pristine island was cut short because it took so long to get us over there!

Rooms were cleaned well and that staff was amazing! Curtains had holes and the shower was always cold but the cleaning staff were always professional and courteous!

BE WARNED! Once Carnival gets your money, Customer Service DISAPPEARS! We're sticking with Holland America and Costa Cruises! They have no trouble with people who wish to practice their Faith! Less

Cabin review: Carnival Victory Balcony Lido 9207

Although outdated, the cabin was clean. Curtains had holes and shower curtain had broken hooks. The shower was never hot. :( Plenty of closet and drawer space and cabin was quiet (almost sound-proof). :)NOT crazy about the fluorescent lighting---gives me headaches! Softer lighting would have been appreciated. The cleaning staff were friendly and attentive.

Port and Shore Excursions

We were told to be ready to disembark at 9am. We arrived at the theatre at 8:55am. We didn't get out of that room until almost 10:30am!!!!!
Carnival can afford to buy an island but they can't build a pier to get us onto the island???!!!
While waiting in the theatre, small children were crying, parents were at their wits end. Staff started a movie to distract the kids.....Godzilla!!!!! Kids were worse and parents complained. Staff started another movie---with foul language!!!! More complaints. After starting the third movie, everyone was ready to jump ship! Shuttle boats were overcrowded and parents with little kids had to stand. Not enough shuttles boats going back and forth. We were treated like cattle.
Sadly--that was the most beautiful island but we didn't get as much time to spend there because of the time wasted waiting in that theatre.
