We read many reviews on ships leaving New Orleans in January and chose the Carnival Sunshine. It seemed a toss up between this and the Norwegian according to reviews. So happy with our choice. The Sunshine was great. As with all cruises and vacations it is what you make it. It was cold back home so any place warm was going to be better. Right off we missed leaving our luggage with a porter so had to keep it with us until we boarded, we thought it would be a pain but as soon as we boarded they let us take it to our room and leave in front of the door. No problem, then off to a full buffet lunch, awesome.
From there it just got better. We left port for 7 great days in warmth and pampering. We love the late dining and took full advantage of ALL the choices in the dining room. Our head waiter seemed a little off his game, again we made the best of it and joined another couple for dinner and the long waits were filled with good conversation. Even though the head waiter was not up to par our assistants were fantastic and tried to fill the void he left. Marija and Dina you are amazing women. Thanks for making our dinners great.
The food in the dining room, the specialty Italian restaurant, and Guy's Burgers was great. The buffet's were like all buffets it was good food but made for the masses. We never went hungry.
Our room was amazing. This was our first ocean view room. WOW. We loved it. It had more closets and cabinets than we had stuff. This was the perfect area. As we went down the steps in the evenings we could hear all the noise of the day disappear and by the time we got to Deck 1 the ship was smooth, quiet and relaxing.
