Itinerary and staff saved the day on a very plain and tired ship
Flight from GLASGOW was dire... Too cramped and food was vile!
Arrival and embarking ship was fine and fairly smooth. Cabin was a total let down with marks on table possibly paint or something that couldn't be cleaned! Sink was chipped and a hole the side of a fist high up on the separating wall and the shower old and discoloured... In short it was nowhere near platinum standard! Our cabin steward DD provided exceptional service and he was the only reason that we didn't ask for a change of cabin!
Public areas were immaculate!
Drinks package wasn't worth it £199 per person per week and that was both of us drinking our fair share:-/
Lido area... Food was mediocre and at times bland though edible but Daniel and his team do an excellent job! Breakfast was always good, lunch was hit n miss as was evening meal while midnight buffet was decent!
Orion... Didn't use it... Too pretentious and I don't do dress codes!
Steak in the More stars... Splendid! Five courses including a wonderful steak for £13 (we could only eat 4 courses) service of Fernando and his team was fantastic!
Deck 9 omelette and burger bar the young man was great and nothing phased him:)
Bar prices when on an AI drinks package... Supplements are a joke and full price on Caribbean specials left a bitter taste when staff said they were on a supplement charge and bill came through with two lots of £4.95:(
Bar staff needing a mention hazel and Joel:)
Entertainment wise the shows were good and one show with cabaret, Chicago and les miserables was outstanding! The lead vocals on other shows were weak at times but harmonies and choreography made up for it as did stage sets! Steve Johnson cruise director did a great show with drifters and Neil diamond music but when involved in dancing in one of the shows he was like a duck out if water lol Kate his assistant did a spot in medusa and she too has an exceptional voice! Martyn (in particular) and Mark presentation wise were very good but the young lady who presented some stuff was very weak:( bingo was a rip off with 3 games per day at £5 for one ticket covering three games a strip of three tickets with three games at £15... I only played once on my last evening when jackpot must be won! Jackpot was £1700 week 1 and £1400 week 2! Tina and Beakles were great music wise but weak vocally and she definitely is not strong enough as a lead vocalist... Harmonies were good but music n Vox mix is all wrong they either have to increase volume on microphones or reduce volume on amps on guitars!!
Casino was excellent with FANTASTIC staff! They have fun plays whereby a meal for two is up for grabs and they teach you to play! They also have competitions for Black jack, Texas Hold em and stud poker and we won two of them!
Laundry... What a rip off... Just for wash n dry a t shirt was £2.40 each a pair of socks 75p! Ironing is extra at around £1.40 per item!
Shops on board it's over £3 each for mouthwash, shower gel and deodorant... Take plenty with you! Tobacco is cheaper to purchase in ports around half of what you pay on ship! Fragrances cheaper off boat too!
The guy who deals with port shopping for jewellery (john daly) was the perfect gent and a source of knowledge! He finished working on the dream on our last day:(
Itinerary both weeks was excellent but sea days if you don't have a Sunbed by 7am you are struggling! Not enough daytime entertainment either and only the serenade group fitted into that schedule!
Would I do it again? Yes but only if I was paying £1000 less and drinks were included as this holiday was not value for money! Less
