First off--So glad we fly in the day before. With the arctic temps and snow throughout the US, we were extremely lucky. Got in the evening of Jan 4th and stayed at a Best Western. Signed up for a 10AM shuttle to Port Everglades and we were onboard Silhouette by 11AM. Checked our bags outside the ship and sailed through embarkation. Piece of cake. We were greeted with Mimosa's or Champagne. We headed to our room as we had seen passengers already on their balconies, but our room #7121 Deck 7 wasn't ready. So we headed up into the madhouse buffet, aka the Ocean View Cafe. What can be said. It's a zoo. Even with our earlier arrival, others arrived earlier. It's a typical layout for the main dining area and there are two sides serving the same thing…You need to take a look see and grab a plate. The attendants were clearing plates/places as quick as they could but trust me, it's a chaotic way to start a cruise. IT DOES GET BETTER. Not every passenger will be in the Ocean View at the same time the whole rest of the cruise. There are the typical carving stations, sushi, desserts, fruits, cheese, rolls, ice cream, Asian dishes,(dumplings, wok, dim sum) British faves (blood sausage, bangers and mash) free juice, ice tea, hot tea, coffee. Celebrity offers beverage packages. My husband who doesn't drink alcohol got the premium pkg for $160/week. That includes Pellegrino, Perrier, Evian, Crystal Glacier bottled water, soft drinks, alcohol free frozen drinks and premium coffee drinks, (lattes, cappucinos, mochas.)
We got to our room around 3:30 and found our balcony had a cat walk that extended another 4 feet. This didn't affect our view at all and it was fun to watch an crew member clean it down on port day. Our room bathroom had a curved door shower and awful towels. I wouldn't put those towels in our guest bathroom. Very cheap. The room was good sized, luggage didn't fit under the bed (which has curved corners) There are 3 small drawers to put clothes in and a decent closet but shelf space is sorely lacking. Flat-screen tv, not many channels, very thin blanket on the bed, (no more down comforters) I asked for an extra blanket from our room steward Jesse who was very nice and invisible. Room was made up very quickly. Mini bar is pricy and filled completely. Take note if you're bringing bottle or two of white wine.
Deck 7 has a wonderful area called the Hideaway, that has coffee and tea 24/7. The gift shops are high end-Bvlgari, Breitling, Michael Kors. Casino supposedly pd out $650.000.00 the week we were onboard. I saw $14 of that. That's it for now. Part 2 to come. PS Murano's is $45 pp but i HIGHLY recommend it. Feel free to ask any questions and I will answer them.
