7th cruise on Princess 4th trip to Eastern Caribbean
pre-cruise....stayed at the Renaissance Hotel...great location. Ate dinner ate Bravo's...decent food, would eat there again. there is a Walgreen's across the street and a Publix and a fantastic wine shop in the Harbor Shops...easy walk. ate breakfast at the Harbor Cafe...decent breakfast fare and a short walk....took the shuttle from hotel...$6 per person
Embarkation was smooth...no issues. We took 11 bottles of wine on board...table set up right after security...well worth the $15 corkage fee, we took a bottle of wine every night to dinner and enjoyed the rest in our state room
C409 was our stateroom...sea walk was no issue...angled balcony was fine, lots of room. The stateroom served our needs...location was great, right by the mid ship lifts...having no stairs there, was not an issue...we would just walk aft or forward to use the stairs...catching the mid ship lifts was not a problem except during the obvious busy times...enjoyed the in room movies on sea days and late night
Best Bar was Crooners...mainly because of the bar staff...JoJo and Bo do a great job...only bar we went to because of location and service.
Food...Allegro Dining Room...Mario, Jason and Lachezar were our waiters...they did a great job all weeks, zero complaints...food was above average
Crown Grill...good experience...worth the up-charge
Horizon Court and Bistro...found the selection and food to be very good...good crew working there...seems to be a breakfast eating frenzy around 10:30, my fellow cruisers acted like they hadn't eaten in several days...really good "people watching" during that time...
ate the pizza at the place by the pool and the inside by the Piazza(sorry, can't remember the name)...both were good
MUTS...we enjoyed MUTS twice...worth the change of pace during the evening
Lotus Spa...horrible, a REALLY arrogant staff, enough said
Enclave...bought the week's pass...we felt it was worth the money...great escape from the masses...the Sanctuary was sold out for the week, so that's when we settled on the Enclave
Activities...probably the worst part of the cruise...nothing really floated out boats and when we did go to something, it was really too crowded...seemed like most of the activities were pretty lame...so we just adjusted and did other things...did go to the Vista Lounge for the entertainment, check out the shows there...don't go to the Princess Theater anymore...the shows remind me of nothing more than grown up high school productions and my former mother-in-law...I know, kind of odd reasons but neither one I want to be reminded of....
gym...very nice, used it daily...never waited for equipment, even on sea days
Ports...this is our 4th cruise to the Eastern Caribbean...we've seen all the sights, so now we shop a little, find a bar, hang out...if you are buying alcohol, wait until St. Martin, prices are better on scotch, Irish whiskey and rum...found Crown Royal on the ship for $19.95 a liter
Overall...no issues with the Royal except it gets really crowded during the day, on sea days...people everywhere! that's when we would use Enclave, gym and in-room movies...a cruise is what you make it...we always have a great time on all of our cruises and this one did not disappoint...
BTW...I'm 6'5', the toilet paper location is just fine! Maybe the writings of it's poor location were from people who needed a bigger area to sit!
