This was our 9th cruise. Our 8th in the past 5 years and it was our 3rd Majesty cruise and our 4th on Royal Caribbean. The first two, we couldn't say enough good about. This one.. Not so much. Boarding was a breeze. No problems. We were in room 5511. A married couple and 1 friend, so we asked the room steward, John, to make one bed on the bottom. He actually told us we couldn't. He said it was a safety thing.. Really? I went to guest services and told them. They seemed to be quite surprised by that. Back to my room a few hours later, no change. So, back down to guest services, complained again! This time he fixed our bed.
On to dinner. We were in the Starlight dining room with anytime seating. Our server was Stephen. He was very nice and very helpful. Everyone was nice, but service was very slow. The assistant waiter kept filling up one glass of water at our table but walking away from the other two empty glasses. He did this each night! Other tables were offered fresh ground pepper and sour cream for potatoes....not us. We were never offered coffee at dinner. The head waiter, Richard, was great! Always checking on us, always smiling. Just simply great. All three nights, service was like this. The food is adequate. Nothing terrible, nothing great.
Day 2.. Been to the Bahamas several times so we went ashore had a couple drinks at Fat Tuesdays.its still relatively new so it was actually kind of quiet....very nice view of the ships and a nice breeze, local staff was super friendly had enough island fun and headed back to the ship. We decide to watch a movie at the spectrum at 2pm.. No one set the screen up ... So the movie never started, so 3 different people had to
complain and finally, 30 minutes later, the movie starts. The Activities Director apologizes and says that later, we can find him and he'll let us play bingo for free. The movies starts, plays and was great... But since it started 30 minutes late... The next movie automatically starts before this one is over!!! Back to guest services to complain. There were a total of 4 movie goers complaining (only 10 attended the movie). Guest services really seemed "put off" that we were complaining. They never replay the movie.
Off to bingo to play for free, so we thought. We get it line, as the Activities Director is no where to be found and explain the situation to the bingo person. She was the rudest person we had to deal with. She was loud with me saying she was the only one who had authority to do this.. So I asked her to call the AD.. She said she did, we waited.. Nothing happened.
Day 3.. We are at Coco Cay. Enchantment of the Seas is there too. We grab a bottle of water from the island and starting talking to the waiters. One is from Majesty and the other from Enchantment. The one from Majesty actually tells us the ship is "crap".. Maybe since the employees feel this way, the
don't give a damn about the guests on board anymore? Since were at Coco Cay, the Wind Jammer wasn't opened. We were able to grab a few scones and bread and decided to go the Schooner Bar for trivia. Well, trivia never happened, because no one showed up to run the game. Must have been the same person in charge of the movies! Then, I'm told by a bar waiter that I'm not allowed food in the bar! Only cookies and crackers. Are you kidding me?!? And there's no sign saying no food in the bar. Isn't this a cruise.. where all you do it eat and drink!?
Overall service was very slack and slow.....most employees seemed put off to do anything much less anything extra.
And the Australian cruise director was very high energy had a good sense of humor was also fluent in Spanish so he delivered every sentence he said in English then in Spanish. It was very annoying and made some of the one liners loose a little of there punch. Plus there were several other nationalities on board.....
The Boogie Wonderland show and magician were great! Really entertaining.
Did eat at Johnny rockets this was an additional cost restaurant food very good and service excellent.
Hot tubs seemed to be closed more than open.
Getting off this ship was delayed considerably. We saw 1 drug bust, and heard of at least a second. I realize this isn't Royal Caribbean's fault, but at least keep us informed! Nothing much in the way of information coming to us about the delay.
It wasn't 1 or 2 things that ruined this cruise.. But 1 or 2 things each day! Really big disappointment for Royal Caribbean. It will be a very long time, if ever that we consider going back on Royal Caribbean especially the once Glorious Majesty....
We realize this is a 3 day "booze cruise" . We weren't expecting to be treated like we were on the queen Mary but there must be some level of service standards. We have been on a couple of other 3 day cruises and didn't experience this lack of caring/service. For every one good crew man there was one who didn't care... We didn't want anything extra....just give us what you promise.
If all you want to do is lay by the pool and drink or spend lots of money in the casino then this is the perfect cruise....if you want any semblance of a pampered cruise look elsewhere....
