We have really enjoyed our cruise aboard the Quest. We have to start at the top and Compliment Captain Jose for a fantastic job in running the ship and taking the time to be sociable and friendly with the passengers. I don't know if this man ever sleeps. The Quest is a fantastic ship and cuts through the waves smoothly. One night we experienced a bit of rock and roll but again the ship handled it great.
The entire crew were unforgettable and just lovely people. We were particularly impressed with the shops and how they were run. The entertainment was mini Las Vegas with cruise director Russ putting on quite a show. the ports of call, although I was concerned, turned out to be perfect choices. There is really nothing but good to say about this whole experience aboard the Azamara Quest.
This is an unfair question since we were spoiled on our last cruise aboard The Celebrity Equinox where we had a huge balcony cabin. The Quest was a comfortable balcony cabin but unfortunately with the small veranda they placed a huge table and two chairs. Barely enough room to move around and robbed some of the comfort.
Disembarkation was fine, BUT. The cruise line arranges the transportation from the ship home. It took us 23 hours to get from Miami to Vancouver, Canada.
We as usual get up early and then follow instructions and go to the airport where this bus bus driver drops us off miles from the United Airlines Terminal. Looking out the door in front of the terminal shows a road letting people off and on buses etc. right at the United Airlines counter. Let me remind you that folks on the Azamara ships are not spring chickens. Then we have to walk all the way to the other end of the airport for the gate. Now we wait for hours. Then we finally board and again have to walk miles at the Houston airport to the United gate. Only after waiting further we are told we have to move to another gate at the end of the airport again. The United Airlines or their staff did not impress us in the least. Anyway, it went on and on. The bottom line is the Cruise line should co-ordinate the schedules to accomodate the traveller. We got up at 6:00am which is 3:00am Vancouver time and my head hit the pillow at home at 2:00am Vancouver time the next day.
