Celebrity Summit Cruise Review by Tanito: Great week in the Caribbean
Overall Member Rating
Great week in the Caribbean
Destination: Southern Caribbean
Embarkation: San Juan
We [me ,wife and 19 year old daughter] flew to san Juan on Jan 1 and stayed t the Embassy Suites near the airport,it`s a good deal for San Juan because it includes breakfast, happy hours[strong drinks] and a beach section with free chairs and umbrella.
The cruise left on Jan 4 and it was a good thing that we got to San Juan early because the flights from New York were affected by the storm on Jan3-4 and people that missed their flights were boarding the ship on the next 2 ports.
We got to the pier at 11:30 had the free champagne and were eating lunch by noon and on our cabin by 1pm We had drink packages and went to the pool to relax.
Last year we cruised on the Equinox but found the [older and smaller]Summit easier to get around ,less crowded specially around the pool and spotless I also found that the food was a little better.
The cabin and dining room [late siting] service was excellent, and very good in the rest of the ship.
The cabin More [outside Cat 6] was smaller than on the Equinox but adequate we were at port almost every day so we didn`t care.
The shows were good and better than the Equinox,on par with NCL,RCL and Carnival.
The ports were so-so,We didn`t like St Croix, and St Kitts and hated Dominica[in the last 2 we went to the pool instead]Grenada was good and St Thomas very good[the Summit was the only ship docked] it will be better to go to Tortola,Martinique andGuadaloupe instead.
Disembarkation was easy without lines at customs[use the porters to get the shorter line at customs and to get ahead of the long line for taxis].
I will cruise with Celebrity again and again over the other Cruise Lines. Less
