This was our first cruise and with much recommendations from friends we chose Carnival. We picked the Eastern Caribean because of the ports we were stopping at.
Not knowing allot about cruises proved frustrating as allot of information is in. Paper form and you must read everything in order to know what is going on and even then you must ask because things are not always written with a full explanation.
The staff was excellent and could not do enough for you. If they were in a hotel setting it would be a five star resort.
The entertainment was sub par with the comedy club being a bust, the dance and music shows were comparable to high school productions, the cheesy karaoke in the bar/ casino areas were good as long as you don't mind cigarette smoke.
Most announcements revolved around selling stuff, both on the ship and off. It is obvious that Carnival gets a kick back from the shops on land since every time you purchase something the merchant asks which ship you were on.
Food was terrible with the exception of Guy's Burger Joint and the Taco Bar. Every piece of meat was tuff with a terrible after taste, my turkey breast with bow tie pasta turned out to be sliced deli turkey with a sauce on it
Room was very nice, we had an ocean view on deck #1, again room was kept very clean and Stewart was the best employee on the ship
Public area kept extremely cool and forced you to wear a coat or sweater to the shows. They also made you leave the Degas Lounge between shows, There was only 10 minutes between shows. Most all shows were sub par and not really worth attending.
I don't know if the ships crew changed since October but if you look at the reviews something changed since then. I will not go back on this cruise.
