Sail Date: Nov 2013

We sailed on the Salute to Veterans cruise, Nov. 5-9, 2013 out of Houston, TX. This was the first cruise to sail from the Houston Bayport Terminal. We arrived in Houston two nights before embarkation, so we could see some of the sights of Houston. We stayed at a Candlewood Suites, which was convenient to the port, and had shopping and restaurants within walking distance. We visited Kemah Boardwalk and the Houston Space Center, and enjoyed both.

Embarkation was uneventful - there were some delays with the computer system, but not unexpected since it was the first sailing. We've sailed once before on Caribbean Princess, so were familiar with the ship.

The theme and entertainment were wonderful - so many veterans enjoying meeting and talking about old times together. Our favorite entertainment was country singer Rockie Lynne - he performed twice during the cruise, and was always available to shake hands with the veterans and thank them for their service. We also enjoyed Joe Galloway and Col. Bruce Crandall's talk about their time in Vietnam.
